Our Story & Philosophy

As the world changes quickly and large corporations take over many historic safari spaces, our intimate, family-run photographic bush camp remains a true independent home in nature. We believe in keeping the wild places wild, which is why we are so proud to operate in the remote Nsefu Sector of South Luangwa National Park. When you stay with us, you are not just a tourist—you are part of our family, sharing in an authentic African bush experience.

Our journey began as tourists who fell completely in love with the African bush. Recognizing that eco-tourism is a cornerstone of wildlife conservation, we founded Zikomo Safari a one of a kind, family operated haven in a breathtaking location. Because we are fully independent, we remain accountable solely to our guests and local authorities, allowing us to stay true to our values.

We built Zikomo Safari from the ground up in the Nsefu Sector, on land granted to us by Senior Chief Nsefu. Because the property sat inside a hunting concession, we had to fight a long, five-year battle just for the right to establish a peaceful photographic safari camp. We truly would not be here today without our son, Damian. His incredible bravery, perseverance, and fierce determination kept our family dream alive and made this sanctuary possible.

We built Zikomo Safari by bringing together everything we loved from our own experiences as tourists, skipping all the things we didn't care for. Our location is easily one of the absolute best in the Nsefu sector, and we'd love for you to come by and see it for yourself!
